The book of Joshua records fulfillment of the Lord’s promise to the patriarchs, specifically that He would give to Israel the land of Canaan.  In so doing, the book bears historical witness of the faithfulness of God to His people and to His Word.   Not one of the good promises which the Lord had made to the house of Israel failed; all came to pass. (Joshua 21:45)
 
Not only is God’s attribute of faithfulness emphasized in this book, but the Lord is explicitly training Israel to likewise exhibit this character trait toward Him, as they enter into their promised inheritance.  Applications for today's believer abound in this study of Joshua!
