Our Statement of Faith

The Holy Scriptures

God’s written revelation to man, the Word of God is verbally inspired, inerrant in the original documents, infallible, and God-breathed.  Penned by human authors under divine inspiration by the Holy Spirit, the Bible is the only trustworthy, unfailing rule of faith and practice.

The Godhead

There is only one living and true God, infinite, omniscient, perfect, and holy.  While one in essence, God eternally exists in three Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - each equally worthy of obedience and worship.

  • God the Father

God the Father is sovereign in all creation, providence, and redemption.  For His own glory, He has decreed all things that come to pass, continually upholding, directing, and governing all creatures and events.  All who come to Him through Jesus Christ are saved from sin and adopted as His children.

  • God the Son

Jesus Christ possesses all divine excellence and exists eternally with the Father.  Born of a virgin, He came to earth as a man, fully human, while also fully divine.  As the substitutionary atonement for sin, He died on the cross and was raised from the dead three days later.  Today He lives in heaven, interceding for His people, and in the future, He will come again to judge and reign on the earth.

  • God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit, divine and eternal, convicts men of sin, regenerates, baptizes, indwells, seals, sets apart, and empowers believers to holiness.  Residing within each believer, He is the Teacher of the Scriptures and the Guide for daily living.

Man

Adam, the first man, was created by God, in His image and likeness, free of sin.  Adam fell through the sin of disobedience, causing his descendants to be born in corruption—body, soul, and spirit.  Thus, all humanity is in need of redemption.

Salvation

Salvation is by grace (a free gift), apart from works.  It involves repentance, a change of mind concerning God and a humble turning from self and sin to God and His ways.  Salvation is received through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Regenerated by the Holy Spirit, those who have genuinely received the Lord by faith will live lives that reflect this inner change.

The Church

All regenerated persons are immediately placed by the Holy Spirit into one united spiritual Body (the Church) of which Christ is the Head.  The Church began on the Day of Pentecost and includes all genuine believers in Christ.  The purpose of the Church is to glorify God by building itself up in the faith, by growing in knowledge of the Scriptures, by sharing fellowship with other believers, and by advancing and communicating the Word of God to the entire world.

Future Hope

Jesus Christ will return to earth personally (visibly and bodily) to establish His kingdom.  All those who have died before His return will be resurrected—the redeemed to eternity in the presence of God’s glory and unbroken fellowship with Him, and the unrighteous to judgment, eternal separation from God, and everlasting punishment in the lake of fire.
